Colleen Foster

Associate

Colleen brings extensive litigation experience to her practice, predominantly focusing on insurance coverage, cybersecurity, data privacy, and commercial litigation matters.

She regularly counsels domestic and international insurers, representing carriers in state and federal coverage disputes involving data breaches, fidelity bonds, commercial crime, and cybercrime policies. Regarding cybercrime policies, Colleen has handled cases involving Social Engineering Fraud and Funds Transfer Fraud, which typically resulted in losses to third-parties and insureds. She not only handled the initial coverage aspects of these cases, including analyzing whether coverage is afforded under the policies for the loss, but she also managed cases that proceeded to litigation. While Colleen has handled numerous cases as appointed defense counsel for the insured, she has primarily represented and handled coverage litigation on behalf of the insurer.

Additionally, Colleen has handled pre-trial preparation — including discovery, brief writing, and depositions — in matters involving contract disputes, tort, fraud, and data breaches.

Colleen earned her J.D., cum laude, from Loyola University of Chicago, School of Law in 2021. During law school, Colleen was the captain of the Loyola University of Chicago School of Law Civil Litigation Mock Trial Team, and continues to serve in the role of adjunct professor. While at Loyola, she received  CALI awards for torts, consumer law, and advocacy. Colleen earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science at Iowa State University in 2016, where she was honored with the Unsung Hero Award.
