Ashley concentrates her practice on complex insurance coverage litigation, with a primary focus on first-party property matters. She represents insurers in disputes involving residential, commercial, and surplus lines policies, including large-loss and catastrophic claims arising from natural disasters and other significant loss events. Her practice also encompasses third-party coverage disputes and matters involving fraud, bad faith, and unfair claims handling. Ashley represents insurers at every stage of a coverage dispute, from initial analysis and pre-suit investigation through trial and appeal in state and federal courts.
Prior to joining Cozen O'Connor, Ashley was a partner at a Philadelphia-based Am Law 200 firm, where she represented Fortune 500 companies, public entities, financial institutions, and nonprofit organizations in high-exposure, complex workers' compensation matters. She has lectured for numerous insurance organizations and authored publications addressing emerging issues and developing trends in the insurance industry. Most recently, Ashley served as in-house counsel for a global insurance company, where she managed employment practices liability and directors and officers liability claims from inception through resolution.
Ashley earned her B.A. in history and pre-law, summa cum laude, from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and her J.D., with honors, from Widener University School of Law. While at Widener, Ashley was a member of the Moe Levine Trial Advocacy and Moot Court Honor Societies. Ashley also studied abroad at the Université de Lausanne and served as a legal research intern with the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.
