Sarah Krissoff, a member in the firm’s White Collar Defense & Investigations practice, spoke with the New York Times about Jay Clayton, the interim U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York (SDNY). Mr. Clayton, a former corporate lawyer at Sullivan & Cromwell who served as chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) during the first Trump administration, is the President‘s pick for the top SDNY prosecutor. It remains to be seen whether the judges will ultimately pick Mr. Clayton.
Sarah said she believed that although Mr. Clayton lacked a prosecutor’s experience, his leadership experience at the SEC gives him the kind of bona fides “that’s going to be important to the judges.”
