On July 18, Attorney General (AG) Pam Bondi and Deputy AG (DAG) Blanche asked a federal judge to release grand jury transcripts related to the 2019 indictment of convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, who died in federal custody while awaiting trial.
Sarah Krissoff, a member in the firm’s White Collar Defense & Investigations practice and a former prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, which brought criminal cases against both Epstein and his long-time associate Ghislaine Maxwell, spoke with CNN’s Laura Coates about the AG’s request. The judge will need to determine “whether there is a legal basis to unseal these documents,” Sarah said, adding that “the framework is structured to prevent their release.” She further noted that “the caselaw [the AG and DAG] relied on in their request is very slim.”
