PHILADELPHIA, August 8, 2025 — Philadelphia attorney Jennifer A. Brandt, Chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Family Law Group, was elected Chair of the American Bar Association Family Law Section (FLS) at the ABA’s annual meeting in Toronto. She will serve during the 2025-26 bar year, effective immediately.
As the ABA FLS Chair, Brandt oversees nearly 11,000 lawyers, associates, and law student members worldwide – supporting the FLS mission to improve the family law system, be the pre-eminent voice on family law issues, improve public and professional understanding of family law issues, and advance the professionalism of all participants in the administration of family law.
Brandt formerly chaired the ABA FLS Nominating Committee and served as FLS liaison to the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession, and the ABA Standing Committee on Professionalism, as well as several other leadership roles within the FLS.
“I am privileged to join a select group of individuals who have had the honor of serving as FLS Chair,” said Jennifer Brandt. “This organization has had a profound impact on my practice, allowing me to meet and collaborate with the top family law attorneys from across the country. I now welcome the opportunity to lead FLS and expand on these career-defining experiences with other family lawyers in all stages of their professional journeys.”
Brandt focuses her practice on representing parties in divorce, custody, and support/alimony matters, with a wide array of clients throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Brandt also negotiates prenuptial, post-nuptial, and cohabitation agreements and mediates and arbitrates family law cases. For her efforts, she has been highly recognized, earning “Band 1” ratings by Chambers & Partners in 2025 in the Family Law – High Net Worth category.
Brandt is regularly sought by the media for family law legal commentary - appearing on national and local television and radio, and contributing to numerous legal, business, and commercial publications. Brandt also lectures and plans courses for attorneys and other professionals on the topic of family law and teaches a course on divorce for Main Line School Night in Lower Merion, PA. In addition, she is the author of a monthly blog for Martindale-Avvo, entitled “Ask Attorney Jennifer B.”
Building on her role with the ABA’s Family Law Section, Brandt is also an active member of the Family Law Sections of the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Camden County Bar Associations. She also served as co-chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Children’s Rights Committee.
Brandt received her law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School (J.D.1994) where she was senior editor of the Journal of International Business Law and an Arthur Littleton Fellowship Instructor in legal research in writing. She received her undergraduate degree (B.A., with highest honors, 1991) from Rutgers University.
